Nessa grew up in a horsey family on the North Shore of Oahu where she has been riding and showing horses since age 8. Starting out with a local 4-H club built a solid horsemanship foundation before branching out to Pony Club and American Quarter Horse Shows, fulfilling her youth dreams with a tackroom full of blue ribbons, trophy's and awards.
Nessa moved to California at age 19 in pursuit of a more vast equine world where she kept a busy schedule training all-around horses out of Travis Equestrian Center, a 60-stall barn located in Northern California. Nessa also rode under Jason Richards, a world renowned Reining horse trainer, where she was "hooked" on the agility and power of the reining horse. Nessa has trained and shown multiple horses all over the West Coast to State and local championships as well as money earners in NRHA, NBHA and Open 4D Barrel Races.
A move up north to Washington State was a rewarding life change focusing on her family and raising quality AQHA foals at JNR Quarter Horses, her 5 acre farm in Onalaska, WA. JNR Quarter Horses was fully equipped with arena, barn, roundpen, and turnouts. Training half a dozen horses at any given time. Clients sent horses from across the US for colt-starting and performance training.
Recently Nessa had made the move home to the Islands with her rig, horse, dog, and 8 year old daughter Bailey in tow! She is excited to continue sharing her extensive Equine knowledge and life-long passion with fellow equine enthusiasts.
Proud supporter of local 4-H!
